Boundary wall of the Friedrichstrasse/Zimmerstrasse border crossing
The concrete wall served as the eastern boundary wall of the Friedrichstraße/Zimmerstraße border crossing opposite Checkpoint Charlie on the West Berlin side. Adjacent to the wall stands another concrete wall with an access gate leading to a courtyard between the border crossing and the firewalls of the apartment buildings. The metal gates were removed when the border fortifications were dismantled. They were stored in the courtyard and added to the Berlin Wall Foundation collection in 2017. The metal pegs for the double-leaf gate are still attached to the concrete wall.
