Command Post in Nieder Neundorf
Command center on the Havel riverbank in Nieder Neuendorf
The Nieder Neuendorf command post was built in 1987. It was part of the border fortifications erected on August 13, 1961, which divided Berlin and also cut off the Western part of the city from Brandenburg. After the Wall fell, it was listed as a historical monument and has been open to the public since November 1999. In 2014, the site was established as a documentation center on the division of Germany and the border fortifications.
