Kirschblütenallee as a border strip remembrance site along Lohmühlenstrasse
The cherry blossom lane runs along the meadow embankment bank on the former border strip at the Landwehr Canal between Treptow and Neukölln. After the fall of the Wall in 1990, the Japanese television station TV-Asahi ran a fundraising campaign, whereupon a total of 1100 cherry trees were planted along the former Wall strip in 1995 and 1996.
